The 2026 Taylorville Chillifest brought vibrant energy, record-setting crowds, and unforgettable flavor to the historic Taylorville Square on October 3 & 4, 2026. Over the course of the two-day festival, photo analytics estimated between 13,000 and 15,000 attendees flooded downtown, cementing this year’s gathering as one of the most successful in the festival’s history.
The massive turnout delivered an immediate boost to the local economy. Pop-up artisan and food vendors enjoyed high-volume foot traffic and brisk sales, while brick-and-mortar storefronts, diners, and specialty shops around the Square experienced a sustained rush throughout the weekend. The festival served as an economic catalyst, introducing thousands of regional visitors to area businesses and highlighting Taylorville as a destination for retail, dining, and seasonal community events.
Chili was, as always, was the centerpiece of the weekend:
Official Chillifest Chili: Festival volunteers dished out over 2,640 bowls of signature Chillifest Chili. Prepared exclusively with locally sourced beef, this gluten-free crowd favorite uses a proprietary spice blend whose recipe remains under lock and key—crafted exclusively once a year for the Chillifest crowd.
ICS Sanctioned Cook-Offs: The competitive arena delivered high excitement across both the Chillinois and Central States ICS Sanctioned Cook-Offs. In a remarkable turn, two first-time Chillifest competitors placed among seasoned championship cooks, proving the competition continues to attract fresh culinary talent. From morning to evening, the Square buzzed with entertainment and activities for all ages:
KidZone & Kiddie Tractor Pulls: The YMCA-managed KidZone remained packed all weekend, offering 100% free activities that kept young families entertained. Right alongside the zone, the Taylorville FFA Chapter’s Kiddie Tractor Pulls drew enthusiastic cheers as local kids tested their pedal-power in a festival favorite.
Peep the Peppers Scavenger Hunt: Kids combed the Square for hidden peppers to claim prizes in this year’s interactive hunt.

Live Entertainment & Big Winnings: Musicians and local performers provided a lively soundtrack across two stages all weekend long. Meanwhile, the high-stakes Chillifest 50/50 drawing awarded a massive grand prize of over $5,000 to one lucky winner.
